  Collaborated with group members of Professor Robert Linhardt's Glycochemistry Laboratory to develop a large-scale, chemoenzymatic synthesis of heparin oligosaccharides utilising analytical techniques such as High Performance Liquid Chromatography, Thin Layer Chromatography, and Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. Proteins were expressed, immobilized, and added to the reaction to catalyze the elongation of the oligosaccharide.

  Held biweekly office hours for the course in the Structure and Function of Biomolecules, conducted review sessions, and graded the midterm and final exams. Assistant taught the Good Quality Practices course in the Chemistry department for where Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices were exposed to the students. Patterned bioactive glass and irradiated canine teeth with a femtosecond laser to study the superficial microstructural topologies conducive to bone regeneration and evaluate the temperature limits of carious teeth ablation. Data was analysed with MATLAB and a publication was written and accepted. Purified methanolic wine grape berry extracts utilizing reverse phase C18 column chromatography, size exclusion, and ionic exchange chromatography. Evaluated collected fractions with High Performance Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry.

  Sol-gel synthesis of mesoporous silica nanoparticles to treat bone infection. Preosteoblast cell cultures were expanded to assay toxicity and viability, and bacterial inoculations were conceived to evaluate antibacterial potency; aseptic practices and procedures were learned. Synthesis of a bioresponsive zwitterionic ligand was also monitored through Nuclear Magnetic Resonance measurements. An NIH grant was submitted and a publication was written and accepted.

  Sol-gel synthesis of silica nanoparticles functionalized with fluorophores and growth capping polymers and precipitation of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles for biological imaging and tumor cell internalization. Characterization of the nanoparticles was realised with Transmission Electron Microscopy and Dynamic Light Scattering.

  Sol-gel synthesis of metallic oxide nanoparticles for the electrocatalytic production of oxygen from seawater; nanoparticles are characterized with Infrared Spectroscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Raman Spectroscopy, and Thermogravimetric Analysis. Electrochemical studies with cyclic voltammetry are carried out with an Autolab potentiostat to evaluate the catalytic activity and performance; computation analysis is conducted with MATLAB.
