      Project Coordinator

      After making a significant impact after volunteering at the organisation in early 2008, I was offered a paid and permanent role to start later in the year at this educational and health NGO in Dar es Salaam. I was initially responsible for volunteer management and welfare - managing 60 volunteers and 20 staff at a busy bar and hostel, but later also assumed responsibility for 15 health and educational projects.Responsibilities/Achievements -Overseeing 10-15 educational, health, HIV awareness, and sports projects and for managing and engineering volunteers and interns programmes and placements. I developed a curriculum, structure, and outcomes/outputs to attract funders and demonstrate success.-Day-to-day management of volunteer hostel and bar which accommodated 60 volunteers. When I arrived relationships with volunteers were challenging. I transformed this by implementing clearer communication, inspiring and supporting them in their projects, and ensuring the organisation became more accountable. -Project design - I implemented structure into all projects and planned and delivered new ones at a high school and orphanage.-Fundraising - I made the organisation more attractive to funders and completed its first successful funding proposal.-Event management - I organised a HIV awareness event that was attended by well over 1000 people, was promoted on national television, and featured performances from nationally famous musicians.
