I formerly taught part time in the UNLV School of Public Health, using both live and online formats and electronic learning tools. Courses taught included: PBH 435/HED 635 Health Studies on Dangerous Drugs and NRES 432/EOH 601 - Advanced Environmental Toxicology. Both of these courses are cross-listed and may contain both undergraduate and graduate students. PBH 435/HED 635 satisfies an undergraduate social sciences requirement and serves as an elective course in the Master in Public Health (MPH) program for graduate students. NRES 432/EOH 601 is an elective course for undergraduate students in environmental sciences and is a required course for MPH students with an Environmental and Occupational Health concentration. I have also delivered PBH 205 - Introduction to Public Health, a second year seminar course option for the University. Show less I worked for UNLV in a number of capacities (Graduate Assistant - Professional Staff) beginning in 2008, ending as a Project Manager for a research project funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. I also worked on research projects funded by: the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Nevada Trust Fund for Public Health, and the Dignity Health Community Grants program. I have published my research in the peer reviewed literature and have presented my work at professional conferences. My research interests included environmental health risks to children, particularly those encountered in the built environment (e.g., childhood lead poisoning and asthma development/exacerbation). For three years I served as the Project Manager for a $650,000 Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-funded grant for the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (DEOH). I managed personnel and was responsible for attaining grant benchmarks and reporting on progress. On related projects in the DEOH, I also continued to work as an EPA-certified lead-based paint risk assessor and a National Environmental Health Association (NEHA)-certified healthy homes specialist. During my tenure at the DEOH, I also wrote or co-wrote several grant proposals, several of which were successfully funded (>$3 million total funding). Show less
