  Self funded paternity leave

  Took a step back to undertake a lifestyle adventure with my wife and two young children. We located ourselves in a country renowned for its work/life balance – Denmark. We rode our bikes everywhere, undertook volunteering roles, bought a Stand Up Paddle board (SUP), spent quality time with our children, I learnt to sail and as a family we reconnected with the things we enjoy most in life. To enable a smooth transition back into the workplace, whilst in Denmark I consulted to a company providing operations expertise to Expo 2020, provided an initial scoping exercise for the 2018 Sailing World Championship and lectured to local event organisers and university students about life as an expat.
