      Cadet Foundation Course

During my cadet foundation course at BSM MTC Cyprus, I acquired essential skills that have proven invaluable in my maritime career. The program covered a range of critical areas, providing me with a solid foundation for a successful journey at sea. The course included:1.I delved into the intricacies of lathe operation, a skill crucial for a marine engineer. Learning the principles of lathe operation equipped me to maintain and repair ship machinery effectively. Welding was another focal point, and the basics of this skill were imparted to me. This knowledge has been instrumental in ensuring the structural integrity of the vessels I've worked on.2. Fire-fighting drills were an integral part of the training. I gained hands-on experience in responding to onboard emergencies, understanding different fire types, and mastering the use of fire-fighting equipment. This training has proven invaluable in maintaining a safe maritime environment and responding promptly to unforeseen situations.3. The course also included comprehensive training in the use of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). I learned how to don and use SCBA equipment, a skill that has been vital in emergency situations where a fresh air supply was essential.4. Personal survival techniques were a crucial aspect of the curriculum, ensuring that I could respond effectively to abandon ship scenarios. From mastering life-saving appliances to understanding the proper use of life rafts and personal protective equipment, this training has enhanced my ability to navigate and survive adverse conditions at sea Show less
