      I had a £1000 budget to spend on library books for politics students. My responsibilities were to identify books that were missing or were oversubscribed, take student request and fill in orders to pass over to library staff. I implemented skills in data analysis inorder to identify understocked books; in budget operating and bookkeeping to keep track of expenses; in negotiation to justify purchases; in promotion to inform students about the scheme. For my work throughout the year I received a Library Champions Certificate from the library liaison manager.My commitment and good results led to me being nominated for a Students' Guild Award for 'Exceptional Contribution to the Academic Experience'.       I was elected by the student cohort to represent them as part of the politics department Student Staff Liaison Committee. My responsibilities were to:- be the first point of contact for students to share issues or suggestions about our course- gather feedback from students and report back to staff- attend student-staff meetings- make a case for any improvements we'd like to implement.- report back to students about recent developmentsSome of the changes I helped implement were in adopting department-wide feedback for exams and optimising module timetabling. For my work as Academic Representative I was recognised by the University and won an award for 'Outstanding Representation' out of all representatives in the college. At the end of the academic year I was successfully elected to become Subject Chair - the leading student position in the committee which represents all students studying in the Politics department. The society as a whole was shortlisted for 'Campaign of the Year'​, 'Event of the Year'​, and our President Ryan Hopkins - for 'Student Leader of the Year'.       The Diplomatic Insitute is a branch of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria which trains diplomats and increases public knowledge of international relations. I helped in the Public Affairs and Cooperation department with communication, event organisation and day-to-day administrative tasks. On my own initiative, I created templates for event invitations and reports, which increased efficiency. I updated the database on diplomatic missions in Bulgaria. I volunteered to do tasks outside my department and helped the Educational office with improving feedback forms. Show less

      As Subject Chair I was the main academic representative of all students studying at the Politics Department. My responsibilities included:- to lead the team of student representatives in my department- to chair meetings with staff and student representatives and address pressing issues- to protect the interests of the students and liaise with staff - represent the student body in my department at all levels of decision-making- promote Department, College and Students' Guild initiativesDuring my tenure we oversaw large-scale restructuring of degree programmes, introduced generalised exam feedback, gave feedback on university policy and addressed day-to-day issues in teaching matters. Our push for students to nominate staff for the Teaching Awards resulted in three shortlisted nominations and one win. Our committee was particularly active in student-led initiatives such as starting a review on best practices across the College, or proposing changes to email policy. Our committee won 'Best Student Staff Liaison Committee' at the College-wide Student Engagement Awards at the end of the year. I was also shortlisted for 'Best Undergraduate Chair'.
