  Gender programs intern

  In cooperation with other international organizations in Somalia, Norwegian People's Aid is responsible for monitoring the humanitarian situation in Sool, Sanaag and Cayne. At the present NPA is the only international organization that operates continually in this area.Norwegian People's Aid has in recent years concentrated its efforts on humanitarian assistance in cooperation with local partners. We focus on safe water supply to vulnerable households while contributing to rebuild infrastructure and wells through the "cash for work"-program. We also work with local organizations to empower women and to engage youth. The largest part of the population in this area is under 30 years of age and many of the tensions in the area for instance Al-Shabaab and piracy is rooted in youth.Achievements:1. Assisted the programme manager in developing assessment forms for NPA’s WASH projects in Las Anod- Somalia.2. Liaised with field officers in Las Anod- Somalia on gender mainstreaming in projects. 3.Provided administrative support to Nairobi’s Coordinating office.4.Drafted relevant Public Relations items such as newsletters, the organization’s Magazine and blog articles.5. Drafted a gender policy to enhance the organizations support and field offices operations.6.Edited and compiled project progress reports on a monthly basis. Show less

  Amazing Woman Dialogues is working to reduce the under representation of women in leadership positions in their communities, politics and the corporate sector through tailor made training workshops done over a five week period and a regional campaign dubbed “The Amazing African Woman Forum” in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania. We hope to build the capacity of women to challenge existing gender norms and break glass ceilings while at the same time creating a powerful network of like minded change agents from all over Eastern Africa. This will lead to an empowered woman with unmasked potential ready to model future generations. Show less

Half the Sky Movement champions for the empowerment of women worldwide through the use of transmedia tools such as videos, websites, games, blogs and other educational tools to not only raise awareness of women's issues, but to also provide concrete steps to fight these problems and empower women.

  ‘Much more than only football’ The East Africa Cup (EAC) is a youth football tournament for both boys and girls between and including the ages 12–16 held annually in the last week of June in Moshi, Kilimanjaro-Tanzania. The tournament is organized by four partner organizations namely; Norwegian Peoples Aid (NPA), KRIK Norway, CHRISC East Africa, Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA). EAC is inspired by Norway cup which has had a similar event running for the last 30 years, only on a much larger scale of over 1500 teams from all around the world. Show less
