Within the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital, my primary clinical responsibilities involved the delivery of diagnostic psychological assessment services to patients referred for evaluation due to suspected Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, mood and anxiety disorders, or other neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder or Specific Learning Disorder). Additional duties included providing individual and group psychotherapy using dialectical-behavior therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and interpersonal therapy treatment approaches. Other responsibilities included assisting with the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows, and conducting research. Show less My faculty appointment within the Department of Psychological and Quantitative Foundations was primarily with the APA-accredited Counseling Psychology PhD program. Graduate-level courses taught include Intelligence Assessment (PSQF:7210) and Psychopathology Across the Lifespan (PSQF:6312). Also provided practicum supervision through the Advanced Practicum in Counseling Psychology course (PSQF:7453). Additional responsibilities included conducting research, mentoring and advising graduate students, and providing program and departmental service. Show less As a licensed psychologist, I maintained clinical, administrative, and supervision responsibilities within the Assessment and Counseling Clinic at the Connie Belin and Jacqueline N. Blank International Center for Gifted Education & Talent Development. Clinical services included comprehensive diagnostic and psychoeducational assessment, individual therapy, and group counseling services. Additional services included professional consultation and training workshops for parents, educators, and other mental health professionals at the local, regional, and national levels. Areas of clinical expertise included identification of high-ability students for academic acceleration and the evaluation of specific learning disorders in twice-exceptional students. Additionally, I assisted in the training of doctoral counseling psychology students as a faculty member of the University of Iowa's Counseling Psychology program. Show less Within the Assessment and Counseling Clinic at the Belin-Blank Center, responsibilities primarily involved providing comprehensive psychoeducational and diagnostic evaluations of school-aged children identified as intellectually/academically gifted or suspected of twice-exceptionality (i.e., high cognitive ability with a concomitant disability). Services also included in-depth psychoeducational evaluations of very high-ability learners to determine the appropriateness of academic acceleration (e.g., early school entrance, whole-grade acceleration, subject acceleration, advanced placement) and to identify clients’ instructional needs. Additional responsibilities included delivery of individual psychotherapy, providing group counseling services, supervision of practicum trainees, and assisting with psychological and educational research.
