      • As the manager of Enfield Day Nursery, I was responsible for a team of 18 staff and 70 registered children. • Along with the rest of the staff team, I promoted the nursery to current parents/carers and potential customers by carrying out daily show rounds and hosting monthly open days, as well as by representing the nursery at local fairs and events.• I led the team during all internal and external inspections. In the final (internal) pre-Ofsted inspection of the setting during my time in the role, we achieved an ‘Outstating’ grade. In addition, we attained a ‘Green’ grade (the highest) in all other internal inspections carried out under my management, including Quality & Standards, Health & Safety and Food & Hygiene. • During my time as manager of the nursery, I made a number of improvements to the setting, including: o Developed and improved all three gardens in the setting by planting trees, flowers, vegetables and herbs as well as creating a mud kitchen area, a minibeast area, a sensory board and a construction area with natural materials such as wood and sand.o Implemented the ‘Active Athletes’ project, as part of which I encouraged all staff to plan more daily physical activities and exercises, and organised for an outside sports coach to come in every week to teach the children different sports.o Implemented the ‘Growing Readers’ programme and set up a lending library to help encourage families to read more with their children at home and to come in to the setting for reading sessions. • I am responsible for a team of 35 staff and 200 registered children. • I recruit, support, train and appraise all staff to ensure high quality practice and to develop staff teams & individual practitioners.• I manage the day-to-day running of the nursery, including all administrative tasks (such as maintaining records on children and staff, maintaining inventories and ordering all resources needed). • I promote and facilitate partnership with parents/carers by encouraging them to attend our open evenings and parents’ forums, join in with celebrations, share their child’s home learning stories, and to get involved with the many activities & projects we run. • I support and develop good practice with regards to special needs and inclusion.• As a team, we work together to deliver rich and stimulating play experiences to all children.• I work with all members of staff to ensure that every child attending the setting is kept safe. To do this, I audit the rooms and the staff on a regular basis and ensure that all staff members understand and follow Safeguarding Procedures.• I work with the wider team to ensure that children’s nutritional needs are met and that the nursery’s Food Policy is complied with at all times, part of which entails checking that the information transferred to the kitchen and staff is always correct & up-to-date.• I develop and maintain highly professional working relationships with relevant local authority departments, as part of which I attend termly managers’ forums and regularly invite outside professionals to our setting. • When the need arises, I conduct disciplinary and grievance investigations involving staff from my nursery, and also assist the company’s other nursery in these matters when required. • I play an active role in all of the regular internal and external inspections of the nursery.
