      Ara Taiohi is a national network organisation for people who work with young people. Soon after I graduated, their leadership team approached me about using the original concept that I had developed during my final year of university as the basis for the Youth Week 2005 campaign. As well as designing the promotional material, my role included liaising with youth workers throughout New Zealand to ensure that the concept had their buy-in and was communicated effectively at a community level. I was closely involved in promotional design work for Downstage, a theatre for which The Alchemist provided design sponsorship, and also developed the look and feel of several web design projects.       During my time in London I freelanced extensively with the London Transport Museum, where I had the opportunity to move into graphic design for exhibitions. After working as senior designer on Sense and the City in 2011, I was asked to lead the design of Mind the Map in 2012. For both of these projects I was responsible for the development of the look and feel of each exhibition and its identity, as well as graphic design and typography throughout the gallery.As well as exhibition design, I also worked on the design of retail products, packaging, marketing material, publications, and educational resources.I dealt directly with clients and suppliers throughout all of my work at the Museum. On the larger exhibition projects I was part of a multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively with curators, 3D exhibition designers, interactive designers, and project managers to meet the project outcomes as effectively as possible.       Kaibosh is New Zealand’s first food rescue organisation, connecting people who don’t have enough to eat with high-quality food that would otherwise end up in landfills, contributing to climate change. Over the five years I worked here, my roles in marketing, communications, fundraising, and volunteer management were integral to growing Kaibosh into an established and beloved local brand.Highlights:• Developing and running a multi-year marketing and fundraising campaign (Make a Meal in May) on a shoestring budget that significantly increased brand awareness and engagement, created a groundswell of community support, and tripled funds raised from year one to year five.• Using digital marketing and communications channels to raise the profile of food rescue in New Zealand and build an engaged community of supporters around issues of food waste and food poverty.• Redesigning and rewriting Kaibosh’s website, incorporating SEO, mobile responsiveness, and an improved online donation experience. Starting from its initial New Zealand launch in 2020, SafeStack is now trusted by over 5,000 learners in 160 companies worldwide. I established, led, and executed all areas of marketing for this rapidly growing B2B startup.Highlights:• Establishing the marketing function and contributing to SafeStack's go-to-market plan by setting and delivering a focused, effective marketing strategy. Results: 16x customer growth, including Australian and US market entry.• Building the product marketing sub-function. This included positioning and messaging to identify and highlight key features, benefits, and value propositions; researching competitive alternatives, prospective audiences, and use cases; creating ideal customer profiles and personas; planning and executing product launches for new programs, plans, and features; and testing new ways to increase product awareness, adoption, and usage.• Establishing, leading, and delivering across all other marketing sub-functions, including content marketing, brand marketing, and performance marketing; and strategising and executing integrated marketing campaigns across these sub-functions.• Continuously iterating and optimising marketing website design, messaging, and content to meet quickly evolving business and customer needs.• Developing and implementing SafeStack’s content marketing strategy. This included working with subject matter experts and leveraging thought leadership to create a consistent cadence of unique, actionable content that builds authority and genuine connection with target audiences; establishing a program of customer stories to build social proof; and engaging existing learners to increase their product usage. Results: 80% growth in new website users; 180% growth in blog views; 660% growth in LinkedIn followers.• Hiring, leading, and coaching direct reports.
