The first Energy and Conservation Specialist for Will County, tasks included bench marking utility usage for all County owned and leased buildings to identify energy cost reduction projects. Introduced legislation that created a "Capital Equipment Replacement Fund" approved by the County Board in 2016. Working with the former Will County Public Buildings Commission, we established the practice of using life cycle cost analysis for capital equipment replacement. I Represented the County and the United States Department of Energy's Better Buildings Challenge as an invited presenter and round table host. I was invited along with the Director of RR&E to visit the White House on two occasions to speak to members of the BBC on the energy efficient work successes achieved by Will County. I am proficient on grant work and was successful in obtaining local, state and federal grants used to fund current energy efficiency work and was able to receive significant state funding to reduce the total cost to the County for it new Public Safety Complex and approval to seek the LEED Certification of the new Will County Court House which will be completed 6/2020 .I worked on three USEPA Brownfields Grant and the USDA Local Food and Places Grant. As Energy and Conservation Specialist I was able to study and work regionally on the development of local food systems and am considered a local food expert. I assisted Lewis University in its initial local food system study in 2019. I was invited to participate as key contributor to the 2019 study because of being considered an area expert in local food systems and my success with the We WILL Grow School and Community Garden Program.
