      It all started with an Internship position where I supported retail back office solutions at sites across the country and assisted in the evaluation of Cognos Impromptu/PowerPlay and Oracle Sales Analyzer data mining and reporting software. I also dabbled with VisualBasic, Active X, Crystal Reports and Oracle development.

      Leader of an IT Operations team with wide ranging responsibilities including Compliance, Change Management and Cloud Operations support. My team was at the leading edge of utilizing the latest technology to realize business value. • Cloud Services – TransAlta is a leader in leveraging Microsoft technology and one of the first companies to successfully complete a data center migration to Microsoft Azure. My Cloud Application team was at the forefront of the O365 utilization including SharePoint, PowerApps, PowerBI and OneDrive.• Business Relationship Management - I routinely managed escalations and dealt closely with business stakeholders, senior leadership, external partners and auditors to ensure that the IT services were being optimally delivered.• IT Operations – TransAlta performed one of the fastest migrations to ServiceNow and my team built on this momentum with some of the earliest implementations of Service Mapping and Service Watch followed by the Security Operations and Vulnerability Management modules. Combined with solid processes and data, ServiceNow allowed effective IT operations with reduced cost and complexity.• Audit & Security - Compliance and security are priorities for most organizations and TransAlta was no exception. From automation to phishing campaigns to regulatory compliance - my team was trusted to deliver in all of these areas.• Change Management – Change Management is key when managing a high degree of transformation occurring from a business as well as a technology perspective. My oversight enabled the OCM and Technical Change Management teams to increase adoption of new technology while reducing unplanned outages and adverse business impacts. Show less Reporting directly to VP of IT, I worked on vendor management, compliance and special projects.I played a major role in the highly successful Tata Consulting Services outsourcing engagement that spearheaded TCS’s expansion in Western Canada. I was involved in all of the contract negotiations, owned the governance, performance management and escalations. At its peak, there were nearly 150 TCS resources engaged in capital and operational activities – an integral part of TransAlta’s IT transformation.For most of my time at TransAlta, I owned the IT SOX audit and compliance management program.
