      The Africa Palm Oil Initiative (APOI) was formed to help transition to a sustainable and responsible the palm oil sector in West and Central Africa. The initiative safeguards environmental targets for reduced deforestation, sustainable land use and greenhouse gas emissions in a way that is environmentally and socially sustainable and protects the rich tropical forests in the region.As the first of TFA 2020’s ‘Signature Initiatives’, the APOI brings together partners from the public and private sectors, civil society and community groups from ten palm oil producing countries in the region: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, and Sierra Leone. The APOI aims to capitalize on momentum by offering ongoing support and central coordination to ensure each country can deliver its commitment.Responsibilities:Design and plan the multi-stakeholder process, select the tools that best help members progress towards achieving sustainable oil palm production whilst taking into account the preservation and restoration of the forest. ➢ Facilitate monthly platform meetings with all stakeholders of the tree crop sector in Edo State to help stakeholders harmonise activities, understand the objectives of TFA and achieve these objectives. ➢ Plan capacity building programmes and trainings for members of the APOI Platform and other relevant MDAs in Edo State. ➢ Ensure that outcomes, actions, and questions are properly recorded and appropriately resolved. ➢ Organize sensitization, talk shows on environmental issues. E.g., sensitizing the Edo people on the need to shun uncontrolled bush burning. ➢ Write quarterly report through Proforest UK to Partnership for Forest (P4F), Department for International Development (DFID).➢ Engage in quarterly meeting with other APOI facilitators drawn from 10 Africa countries. ➢ Sensitize and train heads of interest group in local communities on FPIC.
