      Commercial Fishing Deckhand

Commercial fishing tested both my teamwork skills and mental fortitude daily through dangerous conditions and long working hours. I developed ingenuity through application as catastrophes happen often and require creative solutions to ensure proper vessel function.- Halibut and black cod commercial long-lined in Alaskan Gulf waters. - Jigged for Pacific Cod in NW Alaska on 35-foot sein boat. - Modified setting procedure for increased comfort and efficiency.- Redesigned Jig Machine layout to solve line-tangling problems.- Adjusted baiting method to cut baiting time in half.- Rebuilt engine and rewired electronics.- Earned senior deckhand position after two seasons.- Caught 1/3 of quota in a ten-boat fleet during the State Black Cod Opener.- Obtained yearly Oil Response Training from SERVS.
