    • Avalon Industrial Services Ltd

      Sept 2011 - Dec 2011
      Industrial Rope Access Technician

Slope stabilisation beneath the Victoria Bridge, crossing a large river, in Cambridge, NZ. The work involved intense physical labour in a very dirty environment & the positioning of large two-man pneumatic drill-rigs.

    • New Zealand Industrial Abseilers (NZIA)

      Dec 2011 - Aug 2013
      Supervising Industrial Rope Access Technician

Lead roles in projects supporting Trade Certified Welders doing stainless steel repairs in large-scale dairy factories throughout Australia and New Zealand almost all within confined spaces. All projects we carried out required a high level of precision and professionalism, to a strict deadline. I helped with back purging for TIG welders and polishing back-welds to a food-grade standard. Mostly my role was planning and organisation of access, safety, permits and confined space rescue planning.

    • Technical Rigging Services (TRS)

      Sept 2013 - Jun 2014
      Industrial Rope Access Technician

In this role I carried out telecommunications installations and maintenance, inspection and reporting on met masts and AM masts. Replacing guy wires on towers is one of TRS's specialities requiring complex team coordination. We worked on the Sky Tower which requires a high level of safety planning and execution due to public safety concerns. Lots of the work involved moving heavy and often very delicate equipment up and down structures with a high level of accuracy needed. The use of Helicopters, tensioned rope guides, heavy duty winches and chain blocks were commonplace. Show less

    • Pro Training NZ LTD

      Jun 2014 - Jun 2015
Contracting Specialist Trainer | Height & Confined Space Safety

Full time contracting to Elite Training services involved training a wide variety of people in height and confined space safety and different ways to rescue from those environments. I instructed trainees in the theory of height and confined space safety then lead them through practical set-ups and rescues. Courses ranged from large groups to one on one training. Some courses were custom built to deal with specific site problems. Also on offer was consultation and leading problem solve workshops. Many of the trainees were welders/welding inspectors which influenced my decision to train in welding & fabrication. Show less

    • NZ Welding School

      Jul 2015 - Feb 2016
      Student and Advanced Student

Before I went to the NZ Welding school I was an Industrial Abseiler working in factories and on towers often helping welders get to where they needed to be. I decided to go to NZ welding school so I could go back to Abseiling with some new skills and get more job opportunities. This training provided me with a foundation in welding theory and practice. And the ability to be a productive and useful apprentice welder/fabricator, right from the start. Attained certificates in Welding and Fabrication, Level 4 and my welding tickets (both Overhead Stick and 6G TIG). Was awarded "Best Attitude" at both graduations. Two days after graduating from NZ Welding school I started my apprenticeship in General Engineering for Machine part Welding - doing anything from fixing a broken Exercycle to extensive maintenance on large heavy machinery.
