      Serendipity. Everything in my Yusen career suddenly merge: thirteen plus years, five places to live, four cities, three divisions, two time zones and ONE moment of clarity. My work with Transportation and Warehouse gave me insight into the destination and distribution side of our client’s product; my quality…excuse me, Quality time in our Corporate division taught me process creation, project management, KPI, Kaizen, 5 why’s and everything related to making, following and improving the rules of business; and finishing where it all starts....so to speak…with OCM (that’s Origin Cargo Management) has given me a master class in International problem solving.As the Product Manager for SCS, I am fully involved. I’m taking all aspects of our business, crystallizing the concepts into active solutions for the myriad of “where is your pain” issues that our clients, current and potential, have with their supply chains, and delivering them (written and presentation form) with our Business development team. The most surprisingly wondrous factor of this position is that I’ve been able to reach back into my teaching/training history—also coming full circle—and create and deliver curricula on multiple employee empowerment and development topics, including: Kaizen (even did a well-received baker’s dozen article series for RVCF that led to a webinar and presentations at two conventions), 5 why’s and 5 S’s, critical thinking…and I even got to go WAY back in my wheelhouse to teach public speaking again!Like the Dude’s rug in The Big Lebowski, this position really ties the room together. Show less As a Client Manager for Key Accounts, I worked with our various Origin teams (China, Vietnam, Turkey, India, Pakistan, EU and even once in Australia) to liaise with our client’s factories, getting product from the maker, through local customs, onto a vessel (sea or air), getting it over seas and through US customs, picked up and delivered to the domestic DC. This position combined everything I had done before: project management, KPI/Quality initiatives, good ol’ fashioned people skills in working with carriers to make sure freight was picked up and delivered timely, aggressive problem solving and process/SOP creation.
