  As an H-46D Pilot, was responsible for the safe operation of naval aircraft with regards to command, piloting navigation, communications, and weapons system operation in support of various missions of the Navy. Deployed twice to the Mediterranean Sea on logistics vessels, and aboard the Amphibious Assault Ship USS Wasp (LHD 1). Qualified as Naval Special Warfare Pilot and Functional Check Flight Pilot.   Served as the Standardization Department Head; conducted and coordinated pilot standardization and evaluation checks. Provided instruction in standardization doctrine, reviewed and prepared recommendations for changes to flight manuals and other related publications. Personally authored the initial draft of the Joint Primary Pilot Training (JPPT) Syllabus, which merged Navy and Air Force flight training programs. As Flight Leader, led one third of the squadron’s instructor and student cadre in their mission performance. Provided daily guidance to both instructors and students and managed the training production flow and schedule. As a T-34C fixed-wing Instructor Pilot, flew training planes to instruct student officers in the operation of naval aircraft. Qualified in every flight instruction stage, including Out-of-Control Flight (OCF), and as Solo / Final Progress Check Pilot, Functional Check Flight, Instrument Check Pilot, and Assistant NATOPS Instructor.   Served as Squadron Operations Officer in a forward-deployed squadron in the aftermath of the attacks on 9/11/2001. Coordinated the rapid deployment of all six squadron detachments to support Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). Controlled and directed all squadron flight operations. Prepared daily flight schedules and performed operational activities concerned with flight, flight training, flight safety, ground training, navigation, line operations, communications, transportation, logs and records. Coordinated aircraft flight readiness with the Squadron Maintenance Officer. As Officer-in-Charge, led a 30-person, 2-aircraft detachment during nine underway periods aboard logistics ships, deployed all across the western Pacific Ocean. Show less

Administered the 54-week Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (JSUPT) program, which prepared student pilots for the full spectrum of flying missions.
