My BA thesis argued that the roots of Guatemala’s illiberal democracy are linked to an out-of-sequence democratisation which advocated elections, despite weak state institutions. By comparing the state-centric narratives, I argued that the Ukrainian and Russian governments have polar understandings of the war and Minsk Accords.
