After some time I began running ductwork on my own after learning how to read mechanical drawings.   Started working with this company when I first moved to Atlanta, GA to attend Southern Polytechnic State University and enter into their Construction Management program. I Began as a field sheetmetal installer on the Cartoon Network Building in Atlanta, then 300 Park Avenue building in Buckhead, then 244 Washington St. (a government building in Atlanta) eventually working my way to an assistant estimator in the office and finally a field office coordinator for the 1,500,000 sq ft Georgia World Congress Center expansion.   Oversaw roughly 10M worth of Mechanical and Plumbing Construction operations simultaneously and singlehandedly in the Florida Panhandle while directly managing a fluctuation of 43 - 53 field employees with no experienced field superintendents. Projects included Compass Point 1 & 2 condominiums, Watersound Gatehouse, Rosemary Beach Private Residence Club, Sandestin Grand Condominiums, Sandestin Residence Inn by Marriott, Sandestin Courtyard by Marriott, & Bay County Outpatient Medical Center. Our Florida operations received no assistance from the main Mobile, AL office to complete every aspect of these projects. Responsibilities involved: HR, site mobilization, project management, field layout (reading the blueprints on behalf of inexperienced help), scheduling, estimating, shipping, receiving, materials procurement, contract negotiations, contract management, new business development, warranty, customer relations, local marketing, buydowns, safety, quality control, housing management (paying rent and utilities) for all of our out of state employees working in town. The silver lining with this company, it taught me how to single-handedly run a mechanical contracting company and what fatal mistakes to avoid. Show less

I eventually was asked to start and run the company's Geothermal division since HVAC experience was in my work background and there was little new work coming in within the company's scope of project experience during the economic and banking collapse of 2008.
