  BISFF was conceived on an ambitious dream-fuelled evening, and with the strength provided by multi-award winner Prakash Belawadi it came to fruition, Prakash who continues to be the festival mentor. The idea of BISFF was to create a platform for young and amateur filmmakers, where they could screen their shorts to discerning audiences and, more importantly, find constructive and critical feedback from experts in the field.I'm a cinephile first and then a filmmaker, so inadvertently film festivals are a part of my DNA. When I was invited by the founder/director of the "Bangalore International Short Film Festival" to join the team as the founding committee member and the festival jury, I jumped at the opportunity, for it gave me the chance to operate and interact with fresh & unique voices from across India.Today BISFF has the distinction of being one of the largest Short Film Festivals in India. Moreover on its 10th year it has been approved as an Oscar Academy Qualifying Festival in the short film section and the only one in the country to achieve this feat. Show less

  When the shift happened from film stock to digital not just with camera technologies but also projection systems, filmmakers were introduced to something alien called DCP (Digital Cinema Package).It was around the same time that I was trying to get distribution for my first feature film "Innuendo", which needed a DCP print to make the theatrical exhibition cut.Curiosity led me to read and learn more about it and eventually my keen interest in the technology lead me to train myself. Around that time (2013) since I was the only freelance DCP expert, I was approached by film festivals from around the country to consult for them, as they too were transitioning from film to digital. My responsibilities included, QC, troubleshooting and fixing all the DCPs received. Programming the projection systems for different aesthetic formats from across the world and setting them up to multitask on DCPs, Blurays & Laptops.   Arishadvarga is a Kannada language feature film, produced by Kanasu Talkies, written, edited and directed by Arvind Kamath. It had its world premiere at the prestigious “London Indian Film Festival 2019”, followed by “Singapore South Asian Film Festival 2019”, “Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival 2019” and a theatrical release in November 2020. Despite the COVID crisis, it ran for 50 days successfully. We also had a small scale pan India release (5 Metro cities) and now the film is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. In the recent past, Arishadvarga has been the most consistently well reviewed and critically acclaimed film. It also received huge voluntary press coverage.Apart from being the writer & director of the film, I have also edited the film along with the national awardee editor Bina Paul and handled the end-to-end production responsibilities. Far away from their native places, they make these cities their homes. And the mark of a true great city and its people is how welcoming it is and how easily it assimilates these settlers into its local populace. When so many people come together to make the city their home, it’s a given that the cultures, races, linguistic identities mix and the next generation are brought up in communities of mutual understanding and tolerance. In this scenario, we cannot ignore our reality for homogeneity and convenience. More and more ads these days are going against the stereotyping of cultures and people. It’s important to represent, responsibly, our reality in everything we do. Through our Ad films we want to represent these realities while challenging the existing stereotypes of cultures, color, religion and language. Show less

  Organized by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy for the Government of Karnataka, "Bengaluru International Film Festival" is stepping towards its 14th successful edition and has recently been FIAPF accredited. I was invited to take on the role of the "Chief Programmer & Curator" for the "Cinema of the World" section. Me and my team curated about 200 world class films from around the world within a short period of 3 months time.
