      This was a full-time elected sabbatical post with responsibility for the welfare of 12,000 students, representing their interests in negotiations with the university and on committees. As an employer, Polly had overall responsibility for 300 staff, and was a director of the Union’s trading companies, which have an annual turnover in excess of £7 million. In this capacity she made decisions regarding the employment and performance of staff and the distribution of Union funds.       This was the first post at Keele dedicated to student support within a subject discipline [it obtained HEFCE special funding] and was unique among university law departments. Polly developed the post into four overlapping areas: pastoral, learning support, teaching and administration; a far wider remit than originally envisaged. In particular, Polly taught CPE and undergraduate students legal skills and English legal system.

I was chair of the Good Divorce Group, formerly Norfolk Collaborative Family Lawyers' Group, and Treasurer of Norfolk Resolution, the organisation for family lawyers.

      I am an occasional copy editor of academic books with a specialism in legal books. I edit for both UK and US publication and am familiar with APA, Bluebook, MLA, Harvard, OSCOLA, and Chicago styles. I have edited in the areas of philosophy of law; self-help; education (practice, theory, and law); water management; internet regulation; literary studies; careers management; and comparative criminal studies, among other areas.

      I am a lecturer at UEA teaching adult relationships law, child law, and law in practice (an employability and transferable skills module). I am director of the M100 bachelor of laws programme. I am currently revising our programmes to meet regulatory changes to legal qualification.
