  I was a trainee engineer in the QC department for Group Five Projects, which acted as a construction contractor.Responsibilities included:• The piping for the Copper Extraction Plant was erected using general arrangement drawings and P&IDs (no Isometrics). I sketched the Isometrics for all the installed piping on the completed Plant. This responsibility accelerated my understanding of piping in a process plant.• Coordinated the non-destructive testing requirements on the piping welding.• Executed the alignment of all pump couplings with clock gauges.• Compiled construction data packs according to the quality control plans.• Assisted the Site QS in remeasuring the Works for commercial claims, thus learning the commercial process of a construction project.• As an "initiation”, I worked "on the tools" with the mechanical team, installing mechanical equipment on the Plant for the first six weeks.The practical exposure to piping on this project was the seed of my future specialist capability in construction piping in the Energy Sector.Notable achievements:• With the predominantly Filipino and Congolese construction workforce, I learned early on in my career how to work effectively with multinational, multi-cultural teams.
