  Senior Park Planner

  As the Park Board's first Senior Park Planner, I established the Park Planning office from scratch. I created the project management systems that the Park Planning office would follow including tracking the hundreds of projects being built with the newly passed 1/4 cent sales tax monies. Additionally, I master planned community recreation fields and parks and designed and oversaw the construction of over 30 miles of multi-modal greenway trail in southwest Missouri.

  • I participated in a yearly strategic planning exercise that set the organizational direction for the international organization that establishes the standards for education, experience and examination that is required for the professional licensure of landscape architects. • The Board identified a yearly scope of work that sets goals to achieve organizational strategic objectives. • The Board reviewed the 3-million-dollar budget to ensure that the necessary financial and human resources are in place to accomplish goals. • I served as an international leader and ambassador for the organization with the specific charge to be a well-informed, engaged, and collaborative contributor to the dialogue and decision-making process. • I established and maintained key external relationships and promoted an understanding of the roles and opportunities for collaboration in the United States; the U.S. Territory of Puerto Rico; and the Canadian provinces as well as with global landscape architecture partners. As an organization, CLARB is dedicated to ensuring that all individuals who affect the natural and built environment through the practice of landscape architecture are sufficiently qualified to do so. CLARB and its members work together to establish standards for education, experience and examination required for the professional licensure of landscape architects. CLARB’s members include the licensure boards that regulate the profession of landscape architecture in the United States; the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico; and the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Ontario and Alberta.   As a Project Manager, I supervise team members in the development of design solutions, budget, and project deadlines for a variety of projects. I specialize in management and team building, planning, and sustainable, functional site design for governmental, commercial, industrial, and private clients. In addition to designing public and private projects, sustainable sites, downtown revitalization projects, sidewalks and trails, I have facilitated public meetings, authored comprehensive city plans, economic development plans, grant applications, and have obtained permits and negotiated the right of way necessary to get projects constructed.   Teaching AGR 214-100: In this course I taught the basic knowledge and skills of landscape design, skills necessary for entry level employment within the landscaping industry. o Instruction included, basic principles of landscape design, plan reading, layout considerations, special features, cost estimating, team work, professional writing and presentation through a combination of lecture and laboratory instruction.Teaching AGR 218-2A1: In this course I taught students to utilize computer aided design technology to assist in marketing their ideas to prospective clients and to gain entry level employment. o Computer Aided Design is utilized to increase marketability of a completed design. There was an emphasis placed on the practical application of software to develop effective drawings for the green industry. Show less
