  I have been Finance Director for this company and a number of others in the same Group since joining the company. The Group is involved in the procurement of fresh produce from around the world and their sale to supermarkets and wholesale markets in the UK, and in Europe. The Group is also the owner of a number of intellectual property rights in berry plants which it commercialises around the world. A key additional activity is the manufacture of ready-to-eat prepared fruit salads in the UK for sale by the main supermarkets. When I started the UK companies employed 100 people, now they employ 650 people in the UK and worldwide that number is around 900. Turnover increased from £60mln in the UK only to a peak of £500mln in the UK and £750mln worldwide.Key achievements and responsibilities have been:• Working with colleague Directors on the strategic direction of the Group and the implementation of those plans,• Maintain accurate and comprehensive financial control and reporting every month, as well as regular forecasting and budgeting,• Direct responsibility for accurate payment of payroll and pensions and compliance with HMRC’s (ever changing) requirements,• Responsible for acquisition of at least two businesses• Responsibility for tax compliance in all matters including PAYE, VAT, corporation tax, customs duties, and other areas as they arose,• Management and supervision of staff, both as a line manager, and as a Director of the company,• Responsible for the compliance with legislative requirements including HMRC, H&S, Competition law, Data Protection regulations, and Packaging regulations.
