My main focus were on the two projects I received credit: "Elegy" (shot on film) and "Henry Poole is Here."

      When I first started at AFI, the facility was built for a tape based workflow. Avid DS was the only color grading/finishing tool. There were 15 editing bays w/Avid Nitrus boxes & 2 editing bays that doubled as protools rooms. The editing bays were connected to an ISIS 5000 storage platform that was at capacity. Our deep archive storage no longer function (LTO 6 tape w/ storage DNA). The highest finishing format we could create was HDSR tapes. The faculty/staff watched projects on dvd. The facility was outdated.Working closely with my technical staff we transformed the SDAC into a well-oiled professional post facility with forward looking workflow processes. We created a DaVinci Resolve color grading & finishing suite w/ 5.1 surround, SMPTE grey walls w/color accurate backlighting, & calibrated monitors (closely matched) for colorist and client that could playback in real time 4k color graded footage. The suite was also used for creating and reviewing DCPs (up to 4k resolution). We added 2 additional color suites for Camera tests/LUT creation. Two add'l editing suites were converted into Da Vinci Color grading suites for 1st year productions. Also, we created 3 additional systems connected via fiber to a JBOD array that ran nextLAB dailies software. Other infrastructure improvements included sound proofing, outfitting an ADR booth and expanding our storage capacity to over 200 TB. All of these infrastructure changes occurred in tandem with our improvements to the workflow. These improvements were done on a limited budget which required my team to solve creatively our facilities needs. I look back with pride when I consider how my team transformed not only the capabilities of the facility but also how the faculty and staff thought of the SDAC. We provided professional solutions. Whether that was trouble shooting AFI festival technical issues or coordinating with Department heads ways to improve their processes we became a valuable resource for our community. Show less

      As a freelance Post Supervisor, I ran the day to day of the post departments for scripted T.V. series like "MacGyver" (CBS), "Z: The Beginning of Everything" (about Zelda Fitzgerald) (Amazon), the pilot "Pearl" (ABC), the pilot of "Snowfall" (FX Network)."MacGyver" was especially heavy with both graphics and VFXS. We delivered twenty-three VFX*-heavy episodes weekly with between 200-500+ VFX per episode (plus mattes) - including CGI, 3D/2D, PMP, driving plates, comping monitors with graphics, altered stock footage.
