      Intentional Interim Pastor

This is a special category of professional service within the church. The individuals who serve in these capacities have received specific training in the following areas: Conflict Management and Resolution; Family Systems Theory as applied to Community Organizations; Administration and Management; Human Resource Management; Strategic Planning Processes; Demographic Analysis and Community Development; Planning and Process Theory in moving Communities in Transition; Forensic Accounting; Loss and Grief Therapy; Transition and Change theory and process; Future Visionalization Process and Implementation. It had been determined by the church that there was a need for a specialized leader who could be inserted into situations of conflict, tension, transition or reorganization of ministries. This person would need to specifically be trained in the skill sets listed above, and be able to work under the authority and direction of the bishop. Often this individual was required to work as a trained consultant, with particular directives, goals and objectives. The individuals serving in this capacity typically went through rigorous training, supervision, and review. They were required to submit regular progress reports.. I would then create a specific protocol and system of analysis and review, as well as group transition for creating an effective strategy to transition ministry from a point of dysfunction to proper function and good order. The Intentional Interim/Synodical Administration Pastor was a “fixer,” who both provided management order and system protocols, as well as a “teacher,” who worked with the indigenous, local leadership boards and groups into better management practices, administration, and mission/purpose. The purpose of this individual was to train and transform a situation to the point that their skill sets were no longer needed, because the group was able to move forward with authenticity, efficiency, and effectiveness.
