  To inculcate a risk management culture for Transnet Freight Rail management so that they are able to effectively deal with risks and opportunities, evaluate the effectiveness of control measures and risk treatment plans and report to relevant risk governance structures in line with Transnet Freight Rail’s Enterprise Risk Management plan, standards and framework, including the following:1) Provide strategic input into the development of the Transnet Freight Rail Risk Management Plan.2) Determine and consult how the Risk Management Department will support the achievement of the line departmental objectives to develop and facilitate the execution of the Risk Management Plan within the relevant line department.3) Implement and embed the ERM Standards and Framework, and drive the process of embedding risk management into all line activities, processes and systems through training and continuous communication5) Custodian of the Risk Management framework, standards, procedures and the facilitation of the functional risk registers (Strategic Risk Assessments, Change Risk Assessments, Project Risk Assessments, Financial and Business Plan Risk Assessments) 6) Monitor progress and effectiveness of control measures and risk treatment plans; and monthly reporting7) Coordinate the functional risk committee processes8) Provide progress reports and risk management performance reports to management and relevant committees and forums9) Facilitate line management to determine risks and risk control strategies for all change and investment decisions10) Design, facilitate and embed the Business Continuity Management strategy within Corporate Office.
