  My thesis was eventually baptised as: "Exposing CAN bus data: a synergy between reverse engineering and AI". In my research I have explored the possibilities to reverse engineer raw CAN data using a minimal approach. I achieved this only using an old laptop and statistical analysis.The result was an algorithm that was able to split raw data in sublogs based on their ID and afterwards determine their endianness. The result varied from 83 to 100 % accuracy. Furthermore, the algorithm split signal hidden in the ID in one of the following categories: physical, counter, checksum, multi-value or zero/constant.Are you interested in this work, feel free to contact me!
