  As a Warehouse manager I maintained the integrity of closes to a million dollars’ worth of Coast Guard inventory and conducted quarterly inventory counts to abide to Coast Guard policy. I was also in charge of sending and receiving packages via UPS and Fedex. I ensured that the proper postage was used and all information for the package was correct. I as well shipped priority freight overseas to Coast Guard Cutters that were in need of special order parts and supplies. I also ensured that all personnel working in the warehouse wore the proper personal protective equipment to prevent injury. With the use of the forklift I was able to keep the warehouse properly stocked and utilized safe driving by paying close attention of my surroundings.Unit reconciliation specialist I maintained the unit’s checks and balances to make sure the correct means of purchasing were meeting the rules and regulations set forth by the Coast Guard. I did audits of my unit’s purchases to ensure the proper procedures were used and all the right paperwork was filed. I conducted bi-monthly training at local units to confirm all authorized government credit card holders were up to date with federal regulations. I personally met with the executive officer each month to ensure all purchases were made properly and to answer any questions. As Officer of the day I was responsible for the physical security and safety of over 100 members attached for the Coast Guard Sector. With ability to control traffic I maintained security watch of the main entrance and auxiliary gates to ensure the safety security of Coast Guard and civilian personnel. I was also trained in public relations due to the fact the Officer of the Day was the primary contact between the general public and the Coast Guard command. While holding this title I went through many different training classes that consisted of Anti-terrorism classes, public speaking, situation awareness, and sentry watch regulations. Show less As a qualified communication watch stander I was responsible for monitoring radio traffic within the area of responsibility (AOR) of the station. With the knowledge of security procedures; I was also part of the physical security of the station by monitoring closed circuit TVs (CCTV). As a qualified communication watch stander I had to memorize a total of 100 different landmarks and have the ability to locate distressed boats with limited information. I also received telephone calls from both state and local law enforcement to collaborate rescue efforts in the San Francisco Bay Area. *In one case I was the first watch stander to witness a suicide from the Golden Gate Bridge. I received an award for my actions due to the fact that our rescue boat crew was able to retrieve the victim. If it was not for my attention to detail and quick reaction to dispatch a rescue boat, we would not have been able to locate the victim. As part of the boat crew I was responsible for the safe navigation of the boat and assisted the coxswain (boat driver) whenever needed. In order to qualify, I completed both a written and practical exercise to show understanding of what I have learned. In the process of qualification I had to memorize all the characteristics of the boats that I was assigned to. Also, I was instructed basic and advanced first aid, CPR and how to operate an AED on both adults and children. As a Boarding team member I was trained to enforce local, state and federal laws. Training included how to follow standard operating procedures (SOP) on a use of force policy, deadly force continuum, authority and jurisdiction boundaries. I was also instructed the proper procedure on how to use hand cuffs and an expandable baton. I also learned basic self-defense including the use of pressure points and chemical irritant in which I was exposed to (O.C. pepper spray).
