  Intern - Superconductivity Branch

  In the summer of 2013 I held a research internship position with NAVSEA and worked under Brian Fitzpatrick in the Superconductivity Branch at the Naval Yard in Philadelphia. I spent 11 weeks running tests on superconductors as well as recording and analyzing the results. This required a significant amount of troubleshooting of electronic hardware and data acquisition systems as well as calibrating electromagnetic sensors at liquid nitrogen temperatures. I was required to give two presentations of my results to full time employee's during my time there. One halfway through the eleven week program and one at the conclusion of the internship. Most of my work was considered sensitive information however this internship prepared me for a position as a research and development engineer. Show less
