Infolytica products are used throughout the world allowing for detailed analysis and non-destructive testing. Responsible for a staff of six Engineers, Technical Support and student programmers. Responsible for implementing, planning and tracking of various projects: Generalized Database Management System for CAD, command decoding system, keyboard input system, three dimensional finite element CAD system, and human computer interface. Achieved zero field reported software defects on several products. Refined development process to the point of requiring only one system test cycle on several development projects. Managed a staff of 21 including Project Managers, Software Quality Assurance Manager, Integration Testing Manager, Software Developers, Technical Writers, Linguist and Department Coordinator. Projects: Development of major software and embedded system applications including PC (Windows and DOS based Terminal Emulators with network support); character, line and laser printers; video display terminal products; Internet-related products (Multilingual Web Browsers and Electronic Mail products); and Client-Server applications. Peripheral product developments involved value-added firmware to OEM devices using a variety of firmware development tools, cross assemblers, in circuit emulators and source code control systems.Performed OEM product sourcing negotiations including source code license agreements. Extensive international travel was required to meet job objectives.Managed a major cooperative development efforts with AT&T Bell Labs (VDT Group) which involved coordinating development at facilities in Chicago, Montreal and with Beta Test sites in the Middle East. Prepared technical R&D summary documentation required to secure Tax credits. Prepared several successful grant proposals including two major projects funded in part by the NRC through the IRAP program and one major project supported in part by CANARIE. Thus requiring a highly specialized state of the art custom user interface (virtual paper); Integrated medical knowledge bases; Pen-based systems; and highly reliable robust (vital) software.Managed a team of 55 software development and medical professionals comprised of four Software Development teams, a Software Quality Assurance team, User Education team (doc/training) and a Software Architecture team with an annual budget of $4.5 million.Responsible for leading the R&D Department to over 20 successful on-time, on-budget and on-quality product releases. These releases included a Clinical Note Component and the successful adaptation of Purkinje DCI product and Medical Knowledge Base for the US Market.Reorganized the Development team to be more efficient and cost effective through the implementation of "light effective" software development processes focused on market needs. Established the important role of Product Management in Marketing and outside of R&D. Reorganized, restructured and "spun-off" the development of Medical Administrative software products.Recovered two major failing development projects which were then brought to commercial success.Implemented an effective software development process including use of formal inspections, peer reviews and software quality assurance and testing. Process changes were implemented on an incremental basis.Managed a $750,000 CANARIE-funded project. (Federal Government Funded Grant - negotiations with CANARIE, formal reporting of technical and financial aspects of the project).Successful in SR&ED Tax Credit technical project description preparation and organization.Negotiated and managed several OEM sourcing agreements for embedded data and software components.
