Served as Tactics Officer in the 317th Operations Support Squadron for the development and maintenance of safety surveys for drop zones and landing zones in 12 states. Conducted detailed analysis to check and verify each zone met acceptable safety levels for landing, low altitude flying, and object/personnel landing. Liaised with FAA to deconflict airspace, enabling aircraft to operate within the airspace in any weather conditions. Project managed the Dynamic Re-tasking Capabilities program to enable aircraft to communicate through satellite connections, including delivering training to 62 aircrew members in operations of aircraft and ground station systems. As a deployed Tactics Officer, I was responsible for planning 1,500 combat sorties, which enabled the transport of 1,500 tons of time sensitive cargo and 800 passengers with over a 99 percent mission effectiveness rate. While in garrison, as an Executive Officer, my efforts led to 10 Group level winners and the Squadron of the year award. As a Group Tactics Officer, I was the lead project manager for the Dynamic Retasking Capabilities System, preparing aircrews for deployment by instructing 60 pilots to operate both the ground station and aircraft equipment. Additionally, I led the first group Tactics weekly threat brief, training over 320 members on weapons systems and countermeasures. Displayed exemplary airmanship and courage in the safe completion of 20 missions flown to austere airfields in mountainous terrain under dangerous conditions. Many of these missions were conducted at night in inclement weather with minimal navigational aids under threat of hostile fire. Superior pilot skills, in the face of these dangerous conditions, were key to the safe delivery of 150 Afghan National Army Soldiers to Faizabad district of Afghanistan. Efforts towards this time critical humanitarian objective provided relief to more than 120,000 devastated mid slide victims in 16 provinces. The devotion to duty and the mission significantly contributed to the stability of government of Afghanistan, the safety of Afghan civilians, the security of coalition forces and the transition to retrograde operations.
