      May 2012 - May 2016
      Undergraduate Research Assistant

I worked on several projects with the Mining Engineering Department throughout my undergraduate education. Projects included research on rock-breakage, copper leaching, and byproduct recovery.

      May 2014 - Aug 2014
      Summer Intern

I worked at the Tucson Technology Center with the process development team to help evaluate solutions to hydrometallurgical problems. Safety and environmental questions were also investigated in their technical aspects.

      May 2016 - Jul 2016
      Summer Intern

I worked at the Tucson Technology Center with the process development team to help evaluate solutions to hydrometallurgical problems. Safety questions were also investigated in their technical aspects. I proposed a novel impurity removal technique that showed remarkable success in the lab and made it out to industrial trials.

      Aug 2016 - Sept 2020
      Graduate Research Assistant

On a grant from FMI, I produce transient, reduced order models for some of the main copper extraction unit operations. In particular, these include models of bath smelting, Peirce-Smith converting, and fire refining, all of which have been presented at TMS, Extraction, and Copper conferences. I also have made a population balance model of FMI’s autoclave leaching process. The models are being used to compare the performance of hydro metallurgical and pyrometallurgical routes to copper production from copper sulfide minerals. They also provide insight on possible process improvements and can be used to help show students how the processes behave. Show less
