  I supervised eight tactical units, consisting of (4) lieutenants, (165) officers and supervisors with a combined budget of $29,995,000. The Special Operations Division supported the Bureau of Field Operations and the Bureau of Investigations. In this assignment, I performed the following duties:• I was the Incident Commander for the following preplanned, major events: Cinco de Mayo Celebration (four day event) May Day Immigration Marches Mardi Gras Amgen Bike Tour of California Americafest 4th of July Celebration Hells Angels sponsored “Easter Blessing of the Bikes”Each of these operations involved an influx of thousands of people to the downtown core of San José. During the planning phase, I worked closely with members of the Downtown Business Owners’ Association, City Council, the Mayor and City Manager’s Office, The Department of Transportation, media and outside law enforcement agencies. This interagency cooperation, in both planning and operation, later became an integral part of the overall success of these events. • I have been the Incident Commander for a number of tactical callouts involving both hostage / barricade situations and violent criminal apprehensions.• I have coordinated dignitary protection and been the Incident Commander for both preplanned and spontaneous civil protests and demonstrations.
