  Engine Cadet

  As an Engine Cadet I assisted and gained experience in :*Operating, Maintaining, Repairing and Overhauling machineries onboard the vessel which included :-Main Engine (2-stroke marine diesel engine, MCR: 12450 kW @97 rpm).-Auxiliary Engines (4-stroke marine diesel engine, 2 x 1560 kW, 1 x 2320 kW @720 rpm).-Auxiliary Boiler (smoke tube boiler combined with exhaust gas boiler 2500kg/hr).-L.O. And F.O. Purifiers.-Sewage Treatment Plant.-Air Compressors (Two-stage, Single-stage reciprocating and Screw Air Compressors).-Fresh Water Generator.-Centrifugal and Screw Pumps.-Heat Exchangers (Plate and Shell and Tubes type).-Mineralizers and UV Sterilizer.-Sea chests and MGPS System.-Air Dampers.-Air Dryers (Desiccant and Refrigerant type). -HVAC and Refrigeration plant. -F.O. Supply Booster Units-Emergency Generator.-Life Saving Equipments Mainly Life Boat and Rescue Boat.*Operating, Monitoring and maintaining most systems in the ER which included Sea water System, Bilge Ballast and Fire System, Main and Auxiliary Cooling System, F.O. and L.O. Transfer and Service System, Compressed Air System, F.W. system, Boiler Feed Water System and Steam Service System.*Topping-up tanks as required and taking sounding.*Performing tests on oils and water.*Assisting in F.O. bunkering operations.*Completing company’s checklists which includes Departure, Arrival and UMS checklist.*Assisting in watch keeping and safety checks.*Checking all safety equipments in the engine room.*Recording monthly machinery running hours and recording the inventory of oils, chemicals and spare parts that are available in storage.*Writing technical and safety reports. *Spare parts procurement.*Assisting as required during safety drills.*Also I had the opportunity during my contract to attend a dry dock for a month and gained knowledge in the work done during the dry dock on the ship’s hull and inside the ER, also i have observed the class surveys while it was done. عرض أقل
