      I represent 13 thousand undergraduate students. I run the New York Times program, Student advocates Program and a mentor program. Similarly, I work to bring different speakers to campus, such as NY Times writers, to help engage students. This year, I had Michael Slackman the International Editor come talk to students about his experiences and the benefits we have as Americans. At the end of the Spring semester, I had an event entitled The Last Lecture: The Accidental Historian where a popular professor talked to students about his past and imparted advice for their future.       This committee will:“monitor the two master's programs, the dual degree programs, the graduate certificates offered by SILS, and the Post-Master’s Certificate (PMC) program to ensure that the courses and experiences offered within these programs are appropriate.” To this end, the committee must:• Review these programs and their curricula for needed changes uncovered by the committee or suggested by others, and recommend actions to the faculty based on this review• Ensure that the SILS catalog and webpage descriptions of these programs are accurateThe committee assures that the student advising grids are up-to-date, accurate, and available to students and solicits new grids from faculty as needed.This committee is charged with assessing whether the learning outcomes of the masters degrees and PMC program are being met."There are several additional responsibilities that are the purview of this committee. These include:• Review courses offered two or more times as special topics course consider whether they should be added to the regular curriculum and, as appropriate, bring a recommendation to the faculty.• Review the expectations for a project-based master’s paper. Build on past committees’ work to articulate a set of typical deliverables and some examples. • Review the SILS website treatment of the MS, PMC, and Certificate programs. • Administer the MS comprehensive exams each semester and report the outcomes. • Monitor the profile of the student body in our master’s programs, reporting any concerns about balance and diversity to the Dean and to the faculty.• Review dual-degree program requirements and effectiveness.• Assess the consistency across sections of all core courses.
