      Upon the special recommendation of Ambassador Miriam K. Hughes, I was selected to work for the State Department during the summer of 2010. During the majority of my time with the State Department, I served as back-up for the Office’s Ukraine specialist and represented the Office at inter-agency meetings. I also prepared talking points and other briefing materials for use by the Secretary of State at the 2010 U.S.-Ukraine Strategic Partnership Meeting.

      I lobbied state representatives on behalf of the organization for stronger anti-trafficking laws. I also monitored and analyzed developments in child trafficking legislation to determine what resources were available to survivors. In addition, I developed written guidelines for the Protected Innocence Initiative that was later used by the organization as training material.

      I served as the Associate Editor of the ICSID Review - Foreign Investment Law Journal. I frequently used statistical data generated from the ICSID caseload to develop reports (Annual Report, bi-annual Caseload Statistics, etc.) highlighting trends and other pertinent information in ICSID cases. I gained in-depth experience in matters involving investor-State disputes, arbitration and conciliation processes, and investment treaties (bilateral, multi-lateral, and regional).

      I manage a corporate law firm that focuses on corporate social responsibility, serving company clients in the U.S. and abroad. Regional experience has focused mainly in sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. My current work focuses on private sector participation in socio-economic development in Iraq. My firm also provides technical assistance to civilian organizations in the Republic of Sudan and coordinating with the UN and other governmental bodies on issues related to refugee and IDP protection.
