My PhD research in fluid mechanics has focused on the experimental and mathematical modelling of landslide-generated tsunami, where the landslide was approximated as a solid block moving along a horizontal bottom boundary. This allowed measurement of the properties of waves propagating in both the onshore and offshore directions. This allowed measurement of the properties of waves propagating in both the onshore and offshore directions. Experimental results were compared to the predictions of several mathematical models.A computer-controlled mechanical system provided motion to the model landslide, and the laser-induced fluorescence technique enabled measurement of spatial and temporal variations in free surface elevation during experiments.
