      With UNDP- India Mr. Mazumder has worked as UNV (United Nations Volunteers) cum District Project Officer of Morigaon district of Assam. The assignment was the part of Government of India, Government of Assam and UNDP collaboration. The major tasks includes supporting the district administration in sensitizing all stakeholders, formulating awareness campaign strategies, developing manuals and standard operating procedures, hazard and vulnerability mapping, networking, developing multi - hazard disaster preparedness and mitigation plans, training and capacity building and development of inventory of resources. The assignment also includes research and documentation on risk and vulnerability reduction and preparation of district data base on vulnerability reduction and disaster management. Generation of strong cadre of volunteers, strengthening of local coping mechanism and establishment of linkage with the disaster management plan and development plans was the core mandates of the assignment. Mr. Mazumder has the credit of completing all field level execution of GoI-UNDP DRM Programme in 632 villages, 5 blocks and one district in less than three year time making it the first district to complete all its core activities in whole of India. While working as UNV he has also developed a 600 plus strong cadre of volunteers across the district and started walking blood bank with the district hospital. Show less

      In ActionAid India he has worked as Project Coordinator for Multi-country DRR through Schools Project supported by DFID of UK. The major roles and responsibilities includes developing India specific strategy, plans and budget including development of country policy positions, ensuring implementation of the project in compliance with DFID accountability framework, monitoring plans and budgets and generate regular qualitative, quantitative and financial report in accordance to the DFID requirements. In addition to this establishing synergy amongst other organizations working on the DRR issue and collaborating with organizations like UNDP, SPHERE UNICEF; other DFID partners in India working on similar issues was a mandate. He was responsible for all the communication vertically and with International Programme Manager and also for documentation of good practices in the project. The multi-country DRR through schools project of ActionAid International was given a new height with the publication of its success in ‘The Guardian’ international edition which was then subsequently reprinted in more than 100 online and other print media.       Mr. Mazumder has supported Dan Church Aid (DCA) as Project Coordinator/Project Advisor for ECHO supported Projects in India and Bangladesh. The major duty includes liaising with ECHO field representative in India, supporting and advising partners in implementing the projects, ensuring application of Framework Partnership Agreement of ECHO, monitoring overall implementation of the project including management of budget and finance, developing interim and final narrative and financial reports in accordance with ECHO requirement and assist the partner in procurement in accordance with ECHO/DCA regulations. Apart from this the other responsibility includes regular participation in Project Steering Committee meeting, ensuring DCA/ECHO visibility at national and international level, documenting stories for change and helping partner in developing adequate monitoring and impact-reporting skills. Assisting DCA partners in establishing field offices & recruiting field staffs and undertaking many other organizational tasks was also part of his assignment. The DanChurchAid’s response to Assam Floods 2007 with 500,000 Euro was supported through ECHO adhoc decision was successfully coordinated by him. Mr. Mazumder has completed the ECHO Supported DCA intervention on Kosi Bihar Flood (2008) very successfully with special emphasis on Transparency and Accountability (HAP) and Linking Relief Rehabilitation to Development (LRRD). In February 2011, he has completed Aila Recovery Project of DCA supported by ECHO. While working with DCA he has been helping partner organizations in managing huge emergency supplies and procurement along with cash and food for work. During 2011, DCA has appointed him as Project Advisor to support its Bangladesh team for emergency response and recovery programmes. His responsibility was establishing project offices in 5 states of the country and building project teams, monitoring overall implementation of the project including management of budget and finance, generate regular qualitative, quantitative and financial report in accordance with FMWR requirements, establishing synergy amongst other organizations working on the WASH sector and collaborating with various Government and Non-Government Organizations. Planning, designing and organizing ToT and skill development training for all the stakeholders is also his responsibility. He has managed TCF field offices in 5 states of the country and a project team of 35 state and local government level field staffs.       Multiple Entrepreneurial Initiatives

      During this period Mr. Mazumder tried his passion for entrepreneurship. Initiated small scale production industry in partnership and suffered personal loss due to partner’s deceitfulness despite the initiative being successful in all respect. Later on moved to Dubai (UAE) to rescue a bankrupt semi contracting company of the family members and restore the company to make it a profitable venture in less than a year. Again due to family disputes returns back to India to re-join jobs. During this period he also tried completing his PhD in Social Work through a study entitled “Impact of River Bank Erosion on Affected Communities in Morigaon district of Assam” (Self-financing) under University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya. However, due to non-acceptance of DFID sustainable livelihood framework as one of the tool of research the thesis can not be defended and degree was denied. During this, period he learned most critical life skills which helps in making him stronger, strategic and more organized. Show less

      Mr. Mazumder has lead the Emergency Department of SOS Kinderdorf International in Asia Regional Office. He was also the lead for SOS Kinderdorf International’s core community development programme which emphasizes preventing placement of children in institutional care through strengthening families and empowering communities and community based organizations. He was the central interface for all the emergency related issues in 14 countries of Asia, where SOS Children’s Village International has presence. He was responsible for advising Asia Regional Office and Countries on Emergency Programme planning, implementation, M&E, compliance, and reporting. His responsibility was to identifying situations that may increase the risk of children in Asia, innovate and suggest corrective actions. He was also responsible for monitoring disaster situations across Asia and conducting disaster need assessment if required and developing appropriate response strategy along with Global Emergency Response Unit and Country Programmes. He was also the focal person for the community centric programme of SOS Kinderdorf International, where unnecessary placements of children in institutional care are being prevented through strengthening families and empowering communities. He ensures and upholds UN Guidelines for Alternative Care in all programme countries. He was responsible for Child Right Situation Analysis in programme countries and develops new community based family strengthening programmes to minimize the risk of children losing parental care. He also supports countries in taking initiatives related to child safeguarding and child protection in communities as well as in SOS Children’s Village.
