  This was my very first position in Corporate America. I met the President and Vice President of the Headquarters on my first day, and they were incredibly warm and inviting as they introduced me to the different departments and teams. The IT Department was incredibly influential in developing my perception of good culture. I was included in daily and weekly planning, company lunches (the idea of going outside of Headquarters for paid lunch was mind-blowing), system infrastructure, and company-wide meetings, where we celebrated someone's retirement. When a hiring manager asks "What values/sense of Culture do you want a company to have?" This is one of the examples I think of. Show less

  I started this position when I was 16 and it's been so influential to who I am today. I joined in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic when I desperately needed socialization, work experience, and financial stability. Fareway has been a perfect outlet for all of it. I've made connections with coworkers and customers that would have been extremely difficult to make otherwise, and I've taken up responsibilities that push me to be better. I started as a Courtesy Clerk, then learned Dairy, Freezer, and Checking, until I learned enough to effectively serve as a sub-shift lead. I developed the discipline to wake up at 5 in the morning to help open the store, or close at 11:45. I've loved this job, and I want to carry the things I love about it - People, Project Management, and Personal Development - with me for the rest of my life. Show less

  Administrative / Curatorial Intern

  I spent the majority of this internship under the guidance of the Museum Director, LaNisha Cassell. My very first event was a Juneteenth event in downtown Cedar Rapids, as part of a community engagement/outreach effort. It was amazing. The entire experience was amazing. I created my first Excel projects to engage the black community across Iowa specifically through academic settings, and I assisted with the de-installation and installation of an exhibition.

  I was lucky enough to be recommended for the Collins First Opportunity Internship, and luckier to be accepted for the position! My Student Program Manager was absolutely amazing and incredibly supportive throughout the entire process, and I collaborated with a multitude of people from the ECAD, MCAD, AETS, SCL, HR, and EPSD departments to engage with different projects. I walked out of the internship with the knowledge that if I joined Collins Aerospace post-graduation, it would be as an Engineering Project Assistant. Show less

  Research Computing Student Technologist - Information Technology Services, Research Services

  My day-to-day looks like directly handling Share Creation and maintenance for Large-Scale Storage and Argon through the use of Gitlab, Microsoft Remote Desktop, Secure CRT, Linux, and other tools as necessary. I also execute disk replacements when they fail, and follow a streamlined process of retrieval and discarding for both the new and previous equipment. I’m interested in learning more about the data analytics side of our department, so I lead monthly Utilization Reports for our High-Performance Computing Systems.I have the privilege to work in: System Administration, Infrastructure, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, and General Programming. My job is very intersectional and collaborative, so I have room to expand and grow! I get to observe the real-life impacts of my work, which directly contributes to a more refined user experience.
