      -
      Doctor of music

  • Experience

    • Richmond philharmonic orchestra

      Jan 2007 - Jan 2012
      Music director

I had the privilege of leading Richmond's large and excellent community orchestra. We performed major works by Beethoven, Mahler, Sibelius, Rimsky-Korsakov, Berlioz, and many other composers during my tenure and, I hope, had a pretty great time doing it. It was five years of exciting music making and warm friendships, and is the job I most fondly remember among many during my time as a professional conductor of orchestras and operas from 2003 to 2016.

    • Toledo opera

      Jan 2012 - Jan 2017
      Assistant director

Toledo Opera gave me my first significant opportunity to work as a nonprofit administrator, first leading their strategic planning process as they engineered the company's turnaround, then working to execute that plan as a fundraiser and artistic administrator.

    • Grace place for children and families

      Jan 2017 - Jan 2018
      Annual fund and grants manager

Grace Place was my first full-time position exclusively focused on fundraising. It was an excellent, small, high-functioning team, where I honed my skills as a grants manager, annual fund manager, database coordinator, and connected with mid-level donors.

    • United way of collier and the keys

      Jan 2018 - Jan 2022
      Director of philanthropy

I learned how to be a frontline fundraiser at UWCK, building their first major gifts program while also supporting the annual fund campaign, grants, and managing the fundraising database.

    • Aurora theatre

      Jan 2022 - Jan 2023
      Director of development

Aurora Theatre was an exciting opportunity to help build the fundraising program at Georgia's second-largest producing theatre company. Our two-person fundraising team built major donor and sponsor relationships, planned and executed a sophisticated annual fund campaign, improved our acknowledgement process, grew our grants portfolio, and planned an entirely unique gala experience.

    • Hope for haiti

      Jan 2023 - now
      Grants manager
