    • Texas Education Agency

      Mar 2020 - now
      School Safety Statewide Program Manager

As many of you know, the 86th Texas Legislature increased safety and mental health supports in Texas schools through the passage of several comprehensive pieces of legislation, such as SB 11, which includes expansion of mental health initiatives and provision of funding to increase safety and security on school campuses. As TEA’s Safe and Supportive School Program Manager, I have the wonderful opportunity to work with a great team of professionals well versed in shepherding mental health initiatives, particularly when it comes to coordinating mental health support systems for those students most in need. In fact, providing school districts across Texas with guidelines that include a Multi-Tiered System of Support is an integral component of our overall Safe and Supportive School Program. In essence, TEA’s Safe and Supportive School Program is here to guide all school districts in their implementation of the Safe and Supportive School Program Teams in their own schools as well as meeting other requirements of SB 11.
