I would like to use these skills and qualities to pass on to the future generations. This is an amazing award as it enables me to work with a variety of young people from all backgrounds. One of the main personal highs to this for me is when you see individuals come to the award shy and nervous, to leave a strong and confident individual. Show less

      Undergraduate Teaching Assistant

During my time at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, i had the opportunity to work to observe outstanding practice and also co-delivery and plan engaging practical and theoretical lessons. This has been a very good process to take part in as it has enabled me to see the progressions and processes in which teachers take on a weekly basis. Soccer Coach

Throughout the summer I was selected to go out to America (Chicago, 2014 ) to teach football or better known out their as Soccer. This was an amazing opportunity for me to develop my subject knowledge and how to deliver a range of engaging sessions to a range of individuals; from advanced to beginners. Each week I would be working with a new team/group of young people, this was a great way for me to reflexed on my lessons and how I could change and adapt them to ensure the maximum results for each child. Coaching the First kicks Age 3-4 and the Mini Kicks Age 4-6 was a very challenging and rewarding session as it was a focus on the benefits child development through fundamental soccer. Here the children would learn the introductory skills of soccer through fun games, stories and songs all these things aiding the fundamental development of the child's social, motor and psychological skills. However this did not change when working with the older players aged 7-16 as challenger still focus on whole child not just their football skills. Each day, we focused on one of the five most frequently used skills in the game and will take the players through a progressive series of skill building practices from unopposed, to opposed, game related and finally into a game. Trainee Teacher

During a very challenging and rewarding placement at Lansbury Bridge School & Sports College i have learnt so much in terms of my delivery of physical education on a practical level and theory. I took part of this placement with 4 other students from Edge Hill in the planning and delivery of ‘Healthy active lifestyles’. One of the main challenges to this placement was gaining the ability to change and adapt the lesson plan based on their individual abilities of the group rather than their age. The best way to deliver this was working to the children's strengths rather than disabilities. Show less

      Teaching in Fiji

I was fortunate enough to work in Fiji for three weeks volunteering at Williams Cross Primary School. Throughout my time here i worked in a year 5 classroom environment where i had the opportunity to teach a wide variety of subjects from Math's, English and Social Studies. This placement provided me with several challenges such as how to overcome a lack of equipment such as pens. However, this placement was very rewarding and enabled me to use skills such as behavior management and how to differentiate in a variety of situations. During my time at Veluto Primary School in fiji, i became the physical education teacher for all the year groups at the school (Year 1-8). This opportunity presented many challenges for me as there were very limited resources, which in turn encouraged me to create engaging and structured sessions in difficult circumstances. However, this placement was very beneficial for me to plan. deliver and evaluate my lessons and adapt and change things to ensure i was delivering the best lessons possible. Whilst in Fiji i was presented with the opportunity to work in a local kindergarten, to lead and deliver the physical education lesions and also assist on the delivery of lessons such as math's and English. This placement was an amazing opportunity and enables me to adapt and change my practice to work with younger students to develop their fundamental movement skills. Show less
