      Participating in lectures, case studies, and group discussions with 20 leading social entrepreneurs, I applied my leadership, organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills to design a sustainable and scalable business model for HOPE Worldwide Community Service Brigades. I raised my tuition through a successful crowd-funding campaign and won a writing contest sponsored by Turkish Airlines to cover my travel expenses.

      For this global humanitarian organization, I serve as a team leader and front-line clinician to provide medical and dental care, medications, and education free of charge to low-income families in Honduras and Nicaragua. In my role, I recruit team members with the necessary expertise and prepare them culturally, as well as build their confidence and competence to treat patients in unfamiliar, resource-limited areas.Additionally, I design organized and productive workflows and schedules and stock pharmacies and testing areas for 4-day mission trips.       This 1,000-bed facility for undomiciled and post-acute care patients was set up and staffed within a week to address the pandemic and treated 394 COVID patients over 7 weeks. Serving as an attending physician, I formalized responsibilities, wrote job descriptions, and trained other team leaders. Additionally, I onboarded and supervised clinicians and medical students and served as a frontline communicator and liaison between patients, nurses, clinicians, medical directors, ancillary services, and the operations team.My role also included updating incoming clinicians, assigning patients, and assessing skills of team members. I conducted twice-daily huddles to clarify roles and procedures, as well as discuss patient needs, plan discharge, and refill meds, and I cared for Hispanic patients in their native language.Key Contributions:►Ensured the continuity of care through real-time onboarding of staff and hands-on supervision.►Communicated information and reacted to evolving needs quickly and decisively while volunteering for 20+ 12-hour shifts.►Helped other medical team leaders excel in their roles by establishing and demonstrating best practices.►Freed up healthcare resources for vulnerable populations, such as the critically ill, elderly, and immunocompromised by providing direct care for a high-risk population disproportionately affected by COVID.
