  I served in a variety of leadership roles in a Stryker infantry battalion, including as sniper team leader, reconnaissance team leader, and sniper section leader. I deployed to Afghanistan twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, most recently as a sniper section leader. I attended and graduated from the U.S. Army Ranger School, U.S. Army Sniper School, U.S. Army Airborne School, U.S. Army Warrior Leaders Course, and U.S. Army Joint Fires Observer Course.

  I served as a research assistant to Professor Zachariah Mampilly on a project studying the taxation practices of non-state armed groups. I collected and analyzed data on the taxation structures of contemporary non-state armed groups, and reviewed literature for historical examples of non-state armed group taxation schemes in conflict zones.
