Campylobacter jejuni is one of the most common causes of food-related gastroenteritis. Upon ingestion, various factors can influence how competitive it is at causing illness. Here I studied the role of DNA supercoiling and how it impacts the level of motility and infection. Various factors found in our gut, like mucus, can influence the shape of the DNA. This in turn can make the microbe move at a different rate, ultimately influencing infection.

Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a common progressive multifactorial joint disease and is characterized by chronic pain and functional disability. Over 90 million people are living with knee OA. Here I was studying various mechanisms that could help improve cartilage repair and help reduce further cartilage damage.

We launched our fully reimbursable medical device platform in the US in 2021 and 2022. Working with key opinion leaders in the area of gastroenterology to help change how healthcare is delivered. Remote testing using our platform has the capability to provide greater access to care in a more affordable way. We're the first to be able to measure these important breath gases using a reusable patient device. Our successful clinical trial at Johns Hopkins was able to demonstrate the importance of tracking these gases daily for patients with common digestive issues. Show less FoodMarble is bridging the gap between consumers and healthcare. More than 1 billion people suffer from chronic digestive issues, yet there aren't easily accessible tools for them to manage them. Often symptoms are linked to food not being digested properly in our gut. FoodMarble has created a low cost solution that tracks digestion in real-time using an app-connected, personal breath tester. Tracking your breath and other important factors like food and symptoms enables you to identify the foods that work for you. Show less
