       Led the 3-member Policy team at NOAA Fisheries, Southeast Regional Office, in the Sustainable Fisheries Division. Developed new policies and procedures for the team.  Collaborated with several cross-functional teams to implement fishery regulations for the Southeastern Region. Wrote, edited, and implemented fishery policies and regulations for Federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico, South Atlantic, and U.S. Caribbean.  Presented at several lunch and learns. Coordinated monthly lunch and learns, inviting speakers from the greater Marine Science community in the Tampa Bay Area.  Event coordinator for the 130-person office for socials and Holiday parties.  Traveled to all the Gulf states to educate fishermen on new regulations.  Started the NOAA SEA (Southeast Employees Association) a 501c(6) and was on the Board of Directors for NOAA SEA for 5 years. Show less Worked on longline tuna and swordfish fishing boats, collecting data on fishing gear, target and by catch species identification, protected species interactions, and collected biological samples for scientific research. Lived and worked on small fishing vessels for 300 days at sea, 14 different vessels, some vessels with no toilets or fresh water showers. Sometimes was only English speaker on the vessel. Worked with Vietnamese, Korean, Laotian, Hawaiian, Micronesian, and Haole captain and crews. Developed strong communication skills with diverse groups of fishermen.       Worked with Margaret McFall-Ngai (former Director of the Pacific Biosciences Research Center, University of Hawaii at Manoa) and her team to help decode the Hawaiian bobtail squid genome. Collected and dissected Hawaiian bobtail squid specimens (Euprymna scolopes), setup experiments, assisted with data entry and technical reports. Published in BMC Genomics for work on this project. Organized and attended a conference on symbiotic bacteria in Bellagio, Italy for group of micro-biologists.
