My research aims to significantly enhance the current understanding of habitat use, preferences, and behaviours of two different life stages of the loggerhead sea turtle (i.e hatchlings and post-nesting females) in the Western Mediterranean Sea. The focus of my study is the loggerhead sea turtle population breeding in the Campania region of southwestern Italy. This population is of particular interest due to its pivotal role in supporting the ongoing colonisation of the Western Mediterranean and the current lack of comprehensive data on this breeding group.To this scope, I will primarily employ satellite tagging technology to track the movement patterns of these turtles. By correlating their movements with oceanographic and environmental data, I aim to shed light on the key factors driving habitat selection in this emerging breeding population. Show less
