      Assistant Manager/Lead After School Teacher

Near the time when I was beginning college I was given the opportunity to become a child care aid in the Orange Unified School District. At the time I began this new job, I never would have thought this job would be a place where I could grow and find myself as a person but also as a leader. Working with kids and their parents has given me the opportunity to grow my communication skills and leadership skills in big group situations and in personal situations. As my experience grew within the company, so did my roles as a leader of the kids but also of employees, where I would lead other employees in the work place and train newer employees on how things are done within the company. Not only were my leadership roles over employees expanded but also so to were my responsibilities of being a leader in the workplace, some of these are: -Scheduling days and creating activities for the days for the children.-Managing supplies for the children to use. -Managing a classroom/outside area of sometimes 100+ children all at one time.-Interacting on a daily basis with Parents and students in deep personal situations where being able to have the "hard talks" and patience is much needed.-Teaching children subjects in school including math, history, English, and technological classes.- Making an impact on their lives and trying to be a good role model for every child that I interact withWhile this job experience to some seem insignificant, to me without this experience I would not be the responsible, patient, mature, and level headed person and leader that I have become and has left a bigger impact on me than any other experience.
