  Worked with SFWMD employees in field and laboratory settings on a project that was attempting to understand the fecundity of the invasive apple snail, Pomacea maculata. Assisted in the development of an algorithm that relates egg clutch mass to egg counts of exotic apple snails.Lead researcher in a Pomacea maculata herbicide (2,4-D) study. Worked on the snail in both field and laboratory settings to determine the impacts of the herbicide on snail survival and reproduction. Also conducted fieldwork exploring the field distribution of radio-tagged snails using telemetry. This work was conducted in support from scientists at USFWS and SFWMD. Show less

  Hydrologic and ecological monitoring. Role involved providing support for equipment maintenance, surface and groundwater sampling, and ecological measurements in the marsh and mangroves for the 100 square-mile area surrounding the Turkey Point facility. Worked with SFWMD employees in field and laboratory environments to identify the inundation depth and duration threshold for cattail (Typhadomingensis) sustainability in the Everglades Stormwater Treatment Areas (STAs). This study was one of the nine key Science Plan for the Everglades STAs, (2013) to determine measures that can be taken to enhance vegetation-based treatment in the STAs and Flow Equalization Basins (FEBs) and how water depth affects sustainability of dominant vegetation.
